This hand-carved wood hanging features the Chinese character for 'With surplus every year' on the front and 'Riches and honor, and safe and sound' on the back. The fishes (carp) represent surplus (or riches) since the Chinese character for fish sounds the same as the Chinese character for surplus. You can often see red carp on Chinese New Year Posters and paintings. There is a Chinese knot on top of the wood piece, and a Chinese red thread tassel at the bottom.
